Seminar on Cultural Heritage of Tribes in Eastern Ghats

The Department of Tribal Studies successfully organized a seminar on Cultural Heritage of Tribes in the Eastern Ghats’ on December 4, 2023, at the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Divya K, Convener of the seminar, Assistant Professor, Department of Tribal Studies, warmly welcomed all the dignitaries. Dr. Anirudh Kumar, Seminar Chair, Head, Department of Tribal Studies, delivered an insightful talk on the biodiversity and cultural diversity of Eastern Ghats tribes.  Dr. Kartik Charan Lenka, a Scientist from the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) in Odisha, shared his thoughts and experiences on Agriculture Heritage, Biodiversity, and Tribal Life in the Eastern Ghats, specifically in Koraput, Odisha. The session covered various aspects, including Biodiversity, the Biological Diversity Act of 2002, community biodiversity management, and the tribal life and livelihood in Odisha.

Dr. P. Sivaramakrishna provided insights into Tribal Heritage in the Eastern Ghats, highlighting the Bhagatha-Samantha-Konda Dora Calendar, Visakha Tribal Calendar, and Micro-habitat in Vishakha Mayam/ASR district.

This Program is aimed to observe the Janjatia Gaurav Divas to commemorate the braved tribal freedom fighter of India.
